“a them and us situation” artinya adalah ketika Anda (kami) menentang "mereka":

7. get on the wrong side of someone
“Get on the wrong side of someone” bermakna membuat seseorang tidak menyukai Anda: "Don't get on the wrong side of him. He's got friends in high places!"
8. be in someone's good (or bad) books
“Be in someone's good (or bad) books” adalah mendukung (atau tidak senang) dengan seseorang:
"I'm not in her good books today – I messed up her report."
